Brands to Know About: Before you buy the first wine cellar cooling unit you come across, it’s wise to browse through the various brands and systems available to you. Three of the most reputable brands include Breezeaire, Wine-Mate and CellarPro. Within these three brands, there are many different types, sizes and features available to help you find the best unit for your wine collection. Some of units have a temperature sensor located behind the return air grills that create a carefully controlled environment.
This is the reason why you just can't place them in your usual refrigerator, for a regular fridge would be at around 2 degrees Celsius while your freezer would give out 0 degrees Celsius in temperature to freeze your waters to form ice cubes. If you are very much particular in serving your wine in its best shape, then you should be able to install wine cellar cooling units in your cellar. You will definitely be convinced that the best wine that you have there is really the best when served at the right temperature.
You can now choose your wine cellar refrigeration system based upon your results. There are mainly 2 types of wine cellar cooling units. The first is the relatively more affordable Self-Contained Cooling System. The self-contained cooling system is a lot like a built-in or through-the-wall air conditioning unit. This system needs to vent to an adjacent climate-controlled room that is usually the same size or larger than your wine room. The WhisperKool XLT Series is one example of a self-contained cooling system.
The ideal temperature and humidity of any wine cellar would do well to mimic the natural conditions of France's legendary wine caves, which are acknowledged to be close to perfect. Keeping the rest of the world's cellars at the same 55-57 degrees Fahrenheit (14 degrees C) and with an average of 60% relative humidity generally requires some form of dedicated wine cooling system. To properly control the cellar temperature and humidity, the system should take into account and manage not only the cellar's temperature but also the vagaries of the climate in which you live. It is hotdry? Hothumid? Colddry? Coldhumid? Will your system also be required to supply heating to maintain the correct winter temperature? These are all important considerations when building or retrofitting your wine cellar.
